New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is trending in the right direction to play in Week 1, a source told ESPN’s Jeremyl Fowler.
Barkley, who won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2018, suffered a season-ending torn ACL injury in Week 2 of the 2020 season.
Barkley missed the entire preseason but he has been making a good progress and on Thursday he completed his first contact practice since going down with the injury.
Giants wide receiver Kenny Golladay, who pulled up lame on August 3, is also trending in the right direction to play in Week 1.
“I feel like each day I’m getting better,” Golladay said. “So, right now I’m just taking it day by day, trying to stack good days on top of each other.”
