New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has named Jameis Winston the team’s starting quarterback, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
After Drew Brees retired, Payton gave chance to Winston and Taysom Hill to earn the starting quarterback job.
Winston impressed in Monday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, throwing two deep touchdown passes and completing 9-of-10 passes for 123 yards.
Following Winston’s performance against the Jaguars, many thought the competition for the Saints’ starting quarterback job was over.
Winston spent the last season as third-string quarterback for the Saints but now he is once again a starter in the NFL.
