Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones claims the Cowboys have an “outstanding situation” at the running back position with Ezekiel Ellott and Tony Pollard.
Elliott has been the Cowboys’ starting running back since arriving to the NFL in 2016, while Pollard has established himself as one of the top running backs off the bench in the league.
Elliott’s stats have diminished in the past two seasons and some believe that Pollard should start for the Cowboys.
However, the Cowboys aren’t making a change as Jones believes Elliott has the ability to punish defenders with his powerful burst.
“The facts are that we really have an outstanding situation here that Pollard gets up on them so fast and can really surprise the defense. He’s stronger than he looks, but he just has got so sudden, got such a burst. And then Zeke, you don’t need to describe him. He’s as powerful in terms of — I’m going to overuse the word — but his burst. I mean to tell you he punishes the hell out of those defenders,” Jones said, per Pro Football Talk.
