San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has made it clear that Jimmy Garoppolo remains the Niners’ starting quarterback going forward.
Garoppolo didn’t have the greatest of performances against the Green Bay Packers this past Sunday Night Football and many wondered if the Niners could be making a quarterback change.
For now, that won’t be happening as Garoppolo remains the starting quarterback and the Niners want to give more time to No. 3 pick Trey Lance to develop.
“There’s not a quarterback battle right now,” Shanahan said. “We’re going with our starting quarterback who I think is playing very well. I’m happy that he is, so Trey is not thrown into any situations he has to do too early.”
