Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur insists the Aaaron Rodgers offseason drama didn’t influence the team in their Week 1 blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints.
After the 2020 season ended, Rodgers voiced his displeasure with the Packers and it got resolved just before the start of training camp, when the reigning NFL MVP decided to return to the Packers for the 2021 season.
Rodgers returned to the Packers but he appeared disinterested at times against the Saints as he went 15-of-28 for 133 yards and two interceptions.
The Saints routed the Packers 38-3 and it was the worst loss of Rodgers’ career.
“No, I think this team’s focused on now,” LaFleur said, when asked by a reporter if the Rodgers drama had any influence on their performance versus the Saints. “And unfortunately, sometimes in this league you get humbled. And certainly we got humbled. Like I said, it’s about how we respond to that. How we come back to work. How we stay together. And get ready to play against a team I know is gonna be really hungry coming in here.”
